June 26 2012: Appointment of Dr. Christof Angst and Dr. Igor Fisch as new members to the Board of Directors
Stemergie is glad to announce the election of two new experienced directors: Dr. Christof Angst, former VP Strategy at AstraZeneca, brings to Stemergie more than three decades drug discovery, strategic and partnering experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Dr. Igor Fisch, currently CEO and Chairman of Selexis SA, brings solid entrepreneurial and business development experience to Stemergie's board of directors. June 20 2012: Appointment of Dr. Krisztian Homicsko as new member of the Scientific Advisory Board. February 20 2012: Election of Dr. Kees Lucas as Chairman of the Board of Directors. February 1 2012: Appointment of Dr. Andrew Kung as new member of the Scientific Advisory Board. January 31 2012: CTI Project of CHF 600'000 granted to support Stemergie's research
To support Stemergie's lead program, the Swiss Commission for Technology and Innovation (CTI) granted to Stemergie an R&D project support with the title "design, optimization and validation of compounds against cancer-initiating cells". This project started in November 2011 and supports the research carried out at the ETH Zurich with one of the world-leading chemistry groups (Prof. Erick M. Carreira, PhD and Thomas C. Fessard, PhD) as well as at the Geneva University Hospital (Laboratory of Ivan Radovanovic, MD PhD). CTI finances this research with an amount of over CHF 600'000 during 18 months. May 10 2011: First Closing of Seed Financing and appointment of new Director to the Board
First closing of CHF 1.8 Mio of Stemergie's Seed Round through private investors. This Seed Financing will finance the selection of the lead compound, the in vivo validation of compounds against brain cancer-initiating cells, the further development of companion diagnostics as well as the ongoing translation of Stemergie's cancer-initiating cells technology in a second indication.
Dr. Kees Lucas is elected as a new member of Stemergie's Board of Directors, and hereby joins Dr. Clément and Mr. Leutenegger. Dr. Lucas is a senior executive with a proven track record in the biopharmaceutical industry, while he served as Senior Director International Corporate Development at Biogen Idec until 2004, where he was involved in the oncology franchise and strategy. He is currently a non-executive director of two other companies - one in Lyon on transplantation, one in Oxford (UK) on upper respiratory infections. He is part-time director for business development at a vaccine company.
